Plein-air [pleyn-air; Fr. ple-ner] - designating a painting executed out of doors and representing a direct response to the scene or subject in front of the artist.

Plein Air Artists of Riverside (PAAR) is a professional group that offers beginner-friendly year round opportunities for Plein Air Artists to meet and paint. PAAR has two paint outings each month, coordinates quarterly demonstrations by well known Plein Air artists, coordinates and presents exhibitions each year, and holds an annual week long Paint Out with an exhibition at RAM.

PAAR is an opportunity for individual painters of any level to take their brushes outside and create representational paintings. And this is a great way of connecting with fellow painters with shared interests.

PAAR is an enthusiastic supporter and participant in the Riverside and Inland Empire arts communities.

Paint Out 2009

February 21, 2009 through March 1, 2009

Ada M. Passaro, 91 North, 1st place winner of the 2008 PAAR Paint Out

This year we will be adding a mini Art Expo at check in on February 21, some new locations, and our Quick Draw will be held on February 28, at the Riverside Art Museum followed by a show and sale of the artist’s week’s works.

The Paint Out 2009 will be followed by an exhibition at the Riverside Art Museum starting March 3, 2009 through April 18, 2009. Reception date is March 5 from 6- 8pm at RAM.
