Join us for the 2017 Members’ Exhibition, RAM’s yearly exhibit to show off artwork by RAM's many talented artist-members. If you are not currently a RAM member, NOW is the time to renew or join. Not only will you receive all of the usual member benefits, but you will also be able to show and sell your work in RAM’s 2017 Members’ Exhibition | California Tales: Real or Imagined and gain exposure in a renowned art institution. Award winners will also be given the opportunity to show artwork in RAM’s auxiliary exhibit spaces during the following year.
This year, artists are invited to respond to the theme of California Tales: Real or Imagined. Explore the real and made-up legends of California. California is diverse in a variety of ways, from geography and ecology to people and histories. There’s a wealth of topics to explore: Yosemite, the Mojave Desert, the Salton Sea, how California got its name, Ramona, Native Americans, missions, the Gold Rush, Zorro, earthquakes and earthquake weather, Hollywood, Route 66, Dark Watchers, and so much more. Celebrate some of the myths and legends, as well as factual histories, surrounding the Golden State. Artists are welcome to address the theme in any way they choose. So give us your best work! You are also encouraged to submit a short, typewritten biography or statement with your piece at time of entry. Awards given at the reception will include: Best of Show, Jury Award, and Honorable Mention. RAM reserves the right to remove any and all work submitted.
RAM will be presenting our own take on California Tales via Myth & Mirage: Inland Southern California, Birthplace of the Spanish Colonial Revival, part of Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, an initiative of the Getty with arts institutions across Southern California. So please visit us again in September.
