Adelante Siempre translates as "always forward" and implies the courage and conviction to continually move ahead in life. This exhibition will present the recent art production of three Southern California Chicana photographic artists: Jacalyn Lopez-Garcia, Laura Aguilar, and Diane Arellano.
The work reveals current artistic explorations of the formal and theoretical concerns of their chosen medium. The artists investigate issues ranging from the impact of social networking sites on the public imagination, the relationship of the human ofrm to nature, and the performative social spaces of country line dancing within contemporary subcultures.
Adelante Siempre is curated by art historian, scholar, and University of Redlands Professor Ann Maire Leimer.
Below are the three audio clips from KUSC 91.5's Spotlight on the Arts featuring Curator Lee Tusman as he talks about the artists and the art of Adelante Siempre.
