Tuesday

C3:  Cartooning Freaky Fish!

    * Ages 6 and up
    * Darlene Douthit, Instructor
    * Sept. 28 to Oct. 26, 2010 | 4:00-5:30 P.M.
    * 5 Classes: $85 (Museum members $77)

Take an exciting trip under the Sea with Freaky Fish! Draw Flying Fish, colored Ribbon Eels, Walking Mudskippers, Harlequin Tusk fish, and a Trumpet fish! Learn facts about them too! Step-by-step instructions using multimedia. Fun!

C4:  Awesome Animals

    * Ages 6 and up

    * Nov. 2 to Nov. 30, 2010 | 4:00-5:30 P.M.

Venture into the Awesome world of Animals! With Three-toed sloth, Aardvark, Fennec fox, Gila monster, and the Fire-bellied toad! Learn facts about them too! Step-by-step instructions using multimedia. Fun!

Wednesday

C5:  Learn About Clay

    * Ages 6 to 12
    * Melissa Culley, Instructor
    * Sept. 29 to Nov. 17, 2010 | 4:00-5:30 P.M.
    * 8 Classes: $100 (Museum members $90) | 4 Classes: $70 (Museum members $63)

Come and learn about clay. We will make projects with different methods: slab, coil, and pinch pots. Castles, pots, and maybe a pretend tea set! Have fun while learning the basics.  Limits are as endless as the imagination!

C6:  Experiments in Art

    * Ages 10 to 18
    * Pamela Atkinson, Instructor
    * Sept. 29 to Nov. 17, 2010 | 4:00-5:30 P.M.

This class is designed to give students a wide variety of art-making possibilities.  We may create a mixed-media painting for the first lesson and sculpture for the next.  The key to this class is experimentation and acquiring new skills and techniques while stretching your artistic wings.  Come and learn to create artwork that is interesting and unusual.  This class may be joined at any time.  All supplies will be provided.

C7:  Open Studio, Drawing, Painting, and Clay

    * Ages 6 to 10
    * Pamela Atkinson, Instructor
    * Sept.  30 to Nov.  18, 2010  | 4:00 to 5:30 P.M.
    * 8 Classes: $100 (Museum members $90.00) | 6 Classes: $87 (Museum members $78.30) | 4 Classes: $70 (Museum members $63.00)

In this class, we will explore many different ways of making art, including drawing, painting, mixed media, and clay.  We’ll learn color theory, the elements and principles of design, and get to know some famous artists too!  Every week there will be a class project.   If students finish early, they can use paints, clay, markers, and oil pastels to create an artwork of their choosing.  There is always something fun to make.

Saturday

C8: Mommy & Me and Daddy Too!

    * Ages 3 to 10
    * RAM Staff
    * Oct.  2 to Nov.  6, 2010 | 9:30-10:30 A.M.
    * 6 Classes: $75 (Museum members $68) for one child and accompanying adult participant + $15 for each additional participant.

Remember how much fun you had painting and drawing when you were kid? Come share this unique and artistic experience with your child! This class allows both children and accompanying adults a chance to create fabulous works of art!

C9:  Discoveries in Painting

    * Ages 6 to 10
    * Kelly Rider, Instructor
    * Sept. 28 to Nov. 16, 2010 | 10:00-11:30 A.M.
    * 8 Classes: $100 (Museum members $90)

If you love to paint or want to find out that you do, this is the class for you! Students in this class will learn different approaches to creating paintings and will become familiar with a range of painting tools and techniques. Not only will we dip into a variety of types of paint, including watercolor, tempera, and sumi ink, we will find out what happens when we apply those paints on a variety of surfaces and papers.
