"Acidless Etching" with Master Printmaker, Dan Welden, pioneer of 'safer' printmaking practices.
Artists wishing to experience an environmentally friendly approach to this simple technique will have the opportunity to create quality impressions without the use of acids and grounds. Participants may be involved with drawing, painting and or photography and may use and combine many conceivable techniques to produce a matrix capable of yielding many impressions. Plate making will be emphasized with an "original" approach; no reproductions of pre-existing art.
Participants may come prepared with images on transparent film, drawn, painted or digitized. Others may wish to work directly on location. Optional: bring a piece of quarter inch thick glass, about 8.5X11 or larger and it can be used for a special drawing approach. Participants will be using 8X10 inch plates and can make many plates and many impressions, depending on time and desire. Past printmaking experience is desirable though not required.
Since Solarplates are durable, it will be possible to pull many impressions from each plate. Plates will be available for purchase at $10 each.
It is suggested that participants bring their own drawing and markmaking tools, as well as acetate
