The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture of the Riverside Art Museum will be a nationally-recognized center for Chicano art and culture with vibrant arts programming for all ages. The Cheech, as the center was affectionately nicknamed by Cheech Marin himself, is a public-private partnership between the Riverside Art Museum (RAM), Mr. Marin, and the City of Riverside. RAM, a non-profit, non-governmental art institution, brings 50-plus-years of knowledge of how to govern, administer, and program a dynamic, financially-healthy art center and museum.

Official “The Cheech” masks are made by a woman-owned small business in Southern California. Pre-pandemic, the shop specialized in the design and creation of performance wear for athletes and dancers. Their experienced designers and seamstresses create high-quality face coverings that are safe, comfortable, and fashionable. The masks made for The Cheech come in a lightweight, stretchy athletic fabric that fits well, are cooler, easier to talk through, and easy on the ears. They are bright orange with an imprint of The Cheech Center’s iconic logo.
